Hey, I appreciate finding this place to ask. It seems like you have left out some crucial information on the front page or FAQ page. I have seen that this wiki software is based on Moinmoin, and that some have switched to Sycamore from Moinmoin. But why? Why is Sycamore better? Easier to install? Different features?
Sycamore is very much different from MoinMoin. We forked from the MoinMoin codebase years ago (when we did, it looked like this) and have developed a number of very different features, so it's not accurate to say Sycamore "is" MoinMoin in a meaningful respect any more. The user experience, speed, and many other things differ between the two. Sycamore is developed primarily to support the Wiki Spot project and other related community wikis, and as such we focus on easy-of-use, user interface, speed, and overall user experience.
2007-12-09 06:15:59 Is the non-rewrite configuration working? I.e., with index.cgi in the URL? There's somebody in channel who was trying to get it working, and it seems the code now assumes that you're rewriting the URL, as all the links are broken. (i.e., if you're reading this and having problems with urls like mywiki.org/index.cgiFront_Page1, check the end of the FAQ for the rewrite rules that will make your site work correctly). —JabberWokky
It should definitely work. The trick is to make sure you have the relative_dir configuration option set to 'index.cgi' (it's in the install, but the default is an empty string).
So this covers it? If so, this thread should go away. Thanks. —JabberWokky
- 1Yes, there is a / missing... that's the problem
